California Cuisine
Christy Hill
at 115 Grove Street, Tahoe City (530-583-8551) specializes in seasonal California gastronomy which, together
with the panoramic view of the Lake and Tahoe area from the restaurant’s elevated platform, creates a full
and unforgettable impression of the surrounding environment and its local harvest. This is the perfect
place to take a special friend for your initial overview of the Lake Tahoe area and its native cuisine.
Evan’s American Gourmet Café at 536 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe (530-542-1900) is an adventure
in food as art. Each dish is unique, complex and astoundingly creative, from the champagne baked oysters in
white truffle cream to the pheasant in citrus Chardonnay to the Amaretto crème brulee. Enjoy each offering
with the perfect wine and freshly roasted coffee.
Dory’s Oar at 1041 Fremont Avenue, South Lake Tahoe (530-541-6603) provides an unusual blend of the
finest in California cuisine in an English Tudor atmosphere, accompanied by live Celtic Harp music. Enjoy
a full menu of meat, fish and vegetarian specialties in a relaxed and cozy environment.

The Pfeifer House at 760 River Road, Tahoe City (530-583-3102) is the oldest restaurant in the Lake
Tahoe area, and its menu reflects the most established traditions in classic continental dining. For a
memorable evening of understated elegance, you will not find better service or a menu of greater breadth
anywhere, from fresh steak tartare to Filet Wellington, along with a few classic German specialties.
Le Bistro Francais at 120 Country Club Drive, Incline Village (775-831-0800) offers a very
reasonably-priced, classic Burgundian French prix fixe five-course dinner of seasonal creations, each
accompanied by the perfect wine, under the direction of award-winning Chef Jean-Pierre Doignon.
Wild Game
The Edgewood Restaurant
at the Edgewood-Tahoe Golf Course, Lake Parkway, Stateline (775-588-2787) serves an Ostrich Medallions
appetizer and an entrée of Roast Loin of Elk, along with a full menu of other outstanding choices, all in a
rustic clubhouse atmosphere with a great view of the golf course.
Llewellyn's at Harvey’s Resort, Stateline (775-588-2411) offers a continental menu which includes a
few unusual but well prepared game dishes, served on the 19th floor of the casino with an unmatched panoramic
view of the area. The dress is casual, but the atmosphere and menu are elegant.

Seafood
Jake’s Lake Tahoe
at The Boatworks Mall, 780 North Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City (530-583-0188) offers a complete seafood menu,
prepared in a variety of styles, but with a decidedly Pacific emphasis. There are many fine seafood
restaurants throughout the Lake Tahoe area, but Jake’s offers the largest selection of favorite dishes from
around the country, as well as the freshest shellfish dishes at their seasonal best, along with a beautiful
view at the northwestern shore of Lake Tahoe.
Casual
Bullwhacker’s Pub, Resort at
Squaw Creek, 400 Squaw Creek Road, Olympic Valley (530-581-6617) is an upscale but completely casual and
reasonably priced microbrewery and sports pub in the mountains which serves the best barbeque and burgers
around. Kick back with a game of pool or shuffleboard, and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Austin’s at 120 Country Club Drive, Incline Village (775-832-7778) is a family style restaurant
offering a full selection of standard but well-prepared American fare, served in generous portions at
reasonable prices in an elegant and comfortable environment.
Café 333 Restaurant & Espresso Bar at 333 Village Boulevard, Incline Village (775-832-7333) makes all
of its offerings from scratch, from granola to ice milk, without using any creams or oils. Enjoy French
country cuisine with a health-conscious San Francisco twist for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner.
